First off before i show you what exciting outfit i wore today, some news! The Wendy House is taking part in the vintage fair at the Eden shopping centre! Pop the 22nd and 23rd October into your diaries and come down for a browse!

The cold is finally starting to creep back in so i popped on my burgundy Topshop trousers, another Wendy House blouse (I can't get enough of them recently!) and an old black Gap cardi to keep off the chill.

Look forward to seeing you on the 22nd!

What I wore..

As anyone who reads this blog ( i doubt there are many) will know, I'm not terribly good at it! So i thought i would follow suit and do a few 'what I wore today' posts. If you know me in person you'll be quite aware of how scruffy I can occasionally look, so I thought I would make the effort for the next week and document it in pictures for you all to see!

Day one was my day off which was very nice. I almost prefer dressing on these days as there is no worries about whether I'll get to hot in it at work, whether i can stretch and move about in it etc! This crazy random heatwave has completely thrown my dressing however, I had prepared myself for the cold, and it's sunny?! I was also going up to London today for a spot of shopping so the choice really was difficult.

I ended up in a sheer polka dot blouse from The Wendy House and a plain black skirt. A little boring perhaps, but i had my red nails and i painted on some lipstick (after the photos were taken, doh!) to liven it up a bit.

See you tomorrow folks! sleep tight!

Tuesday 6 September 2011

Today is all blustery and grey, so i thought I would reminisce on the summer past! First up is those promised couple of pictures from our day at the market.

I still don't feel like I've thanked everyone enough for coming down, such a lovely day and I can't wait for the next!

Going back in time a bit further to my gorgeous holiday with Alicia. The photos were only developed the other week and I have been meaning to put them up, we had a day of switching and looking over them in marlow park and moaning about how much we would love to go back!
So here are a few, although Alicis's are a lot more interesting than mine unfortunately!

We spent most of our time away at the festival Benicassim. We camped in an orchard surrounded by mountains and it was so stunning! I just had to take some pictures, hence the random stranger in the foreground!

This festival was all about sleeping throughout the day, and staying up all night for the music! Even though the temperatures in the evening were just as high. The last picture is of Alicia's peach whiskey, I know I wouldn't be forgiven if this was not mentioned!

The above pictures are from Beirut which was INCREDIBLE. We pushed right to the front and honestly i don't think I've seen anything better in my life!

I'm so upset that i used so many of my photos whilst in beni, as it meant i hardly had any for our few days in Barcelona, which were incredible! This city is beautiful, I'm planning on a trip back ASAP! We explored all the back streets, found so many lovely little shops, visited the food market (all the colourful fruits were amazing), walked along Las Ramblas, looked at all the stalls and street artists and checked out the Gaudi architecture.

This was the cutest bakery that was so well decorated and served cupcakes and coffee and sold pop up cardboard houses to carry your cakes in and animal crackers, adorable.
A beautiful (but expensive!) boutique store, that had amazing dresses and bags and exquisite jewellery that i wished i had had the money for! The cherry on the cake with this store was the sugar cubes in a glass bowl on the front table.

This was a store Alicia had found when she visited last year and it was great! They had rails full of amazing vintage and trinkets galore all over and even old bikes for sale, that made me even more tempted to move out there just so i could ride around everywhere!

These guys were like a ray of sunshine! We were quite lost looking for a restaurant and we stumbled across this vintage store with the most english grunger who helped us out with directions, and spent up a huge part of my holiday money! This store was fantastic, littered in treasures and had a little dog running round it too!
Which leads me on nicely to my wonderful best friend (and model for the wendy house!) Alicia. When things get bad we just pick up the phone and offload and suddenly things are a lot better. It kills me that she's off to uni next year, I have no clue what I'm going to do without her, but apparently Bath is lovely so I am very much looking forward to my trips down there! However this means that the Wendy House will be needing a new model. Either email or pm me on facebook if you're interested!

Change is in the air, and its a little scary but a lot exciting. The only way is up my friends

Saturday 6 August 2011

I just realised i forgot to add the photos to that last post!
these were taken first thing after we set up and i'll upload some more soon that my brother took throughout the day!

The Wendy House at Wycombe Market!

So, I feel like a terrible blog writer after promising I would post one the next day with all those pictures and then I never did! However i do have a couple of excuses up my sleeve, I was on holiday for 2 weeks, and then as soon as i got back I've been non stop sewing and preparing things for the stall!

I will post veery soon about my exciting holiday, however i must firstly talk about today and the stall! I'm writing this with my feet up (mainly because i can't actually feel them they're so tired) and a huge glass of rosé, after an incredibly long but successful day.

We had to get to the market for 7 this morning, to bagsy a pitch and set up, but there wasn't really anyone walking around 9 and we made our first sale at 9.15!

The day went very fast with a steady flow of customers looking, buying, asking, it was lovely!

It was a great day, and a fantastic experience! Not only that i managed to earn a few pennies too ;) Thanks so much to everyone that came down and for those of you that couldn't, never mind I'm going to try and do another one quite soon, though not sure when just yet! Need to recover from this one first!

Thursday 7 July 2011

I know this is the second post in the same day, but I had an 8 day stretch at work and today was my first full day off since last wednesday! I can tell you it was quite hellish. However its my last day in my current job tomorrow (scaryyy) and I don't actually have another job to go to (even scarier!). However, although i am of course looking for a new job, I'm hoping maybe in this gap between jobs i'll be able to focus a lot on The Wendy House as I have been neglecting it a little as of late. I'm also going on holiday, which should be really exciting! Alicia and I are going to the Spanish music festival Benicassim, and then spending a few days in Barcelona for her birthday and to do some sight-seeing, and hopefully pick up some lovely things for the shop! This reminds me that I still havent shown you the fantastic pictures my brother took whilst we were away in Canada! Another day!

As well as the exciting holiday and job related news, some relevant Wendy House news! We will be coming offline and into Wycombe Market on Saturday 6th August! I cannot wait, I really hope it will be a great day and lots of you will come and have a buy. Everything that is unsold in the webstore will be coming with me, along with lots of other treasure that aren't currently up, and a heap more handmade lovelies, like jewellery (the necklace pictures i put up the other week!) make up purses and tote bags (these tote bags are incredible, best i've seen, and i have ALOT of canvas totes). I'm gonna be making posters so if you fancy handing some round give me a holler! Likewise if you would like to advertise on facebook, please go for it! The more the merrier, and I'm planning on forcing my sister into making her amazing cupcakes, as well as my friend's Grandma Alicia to bake some of her world famous brownies and of course there will be more bunting than you can even imagine!

I've been lucky to find a lot of lovely things recently, but with no time to get Alicia to model them (please note not Grandma Alicia), and no room on the store, I felt I should at least post some photos on here. Unfortunately, my camera decided that it was having none of it and ran out of battery half way through so this is only part uno!

And now my laptop does not want to cooperate either. fantasticccc! so instead here is a preview of part one  !

This dress is stunning. It's quite simply the perfect summer dress, I was quite gutted it was too big for me as I definitely would of just kept it for myself if it had! Cream cotton, smock style, with embroidery on the bodice, ties on either side under the arms and one to do it up at the back, AND pockets (I'm big on dresses with pockets, they're instantly so much better than those without). IT'S AMAZING.  I cant wait until this silly piece of machinery begins to work so i can show you the full length picture, because this one really isn't doing it enough justice!
So i really wanted to show off my amazing breakfast that I made the other day. It tasted so good, and I even recooked the egg to make sure that it was runny in the middle (I cracked the yolk on the first as it hit the pan, such a frequent occurrance when I'm cooking eggs!). The bacon was extra thick stuff too, so this bagel was incredibly filling! all washed down with the usual black coffee, and I think it was raspberry and red grape juice that day, although it looks suspiciously like red wine!
Breakfast is most definitely my most favourite meal of the day, and I'm always so upset when i don't get to eat it properly (which has been most days recently!), so when i do ge the time, i really try and go all out!

I also wanted to show off the completed owl that i've been going on about in my last few posts! He has turned out so cute, and for some reason really chubby?! He also had to have a bit of surgery as his wing started to fray after i had sewn him up, hence his little strawberry patch. I went with hand sewing the face on like my last denim one that i put up here, simply because i think it looks alot better, although makes it a lengthier process.

These are the necklaces i was saying about the other day! They're so lovely I've kept a couple for myself, and my sister has bought nearly everyone off me, and not just for herself but all her friends too!
